The Apostolic Carmel was founded by Mother Veronica at Bayonne in 1868 and established at Mangalore, India in 1870 by Bishop Mane Ephrem ocd.

The special aim of the Congregation is to attain a deep experience of God through prayer and committed service in the development of youth, especially girls through an all-round education based on spiritual, human, social, national. And aesthetic values in order to enable them to be leaders in the transformation of society.  The special concern of the Congregation is for the poor and the disadvantaged of the society.
